Swing States have been coming into play that I didn’t believe were possible, Colorado, Nevada, and Virginia, for example. Now, some other States have apparently come into play for the Obama campaign.
It’s interesting that I mentioned just recently that North Dakota and Montana may be States that Obama could win if he would make his presence felt. Now, there are rumours that Senator Obama may start spending some money in North Dakota again. It’s a great idea. I know that place. I was built there out of ice, wind, lefse, and beer, and I was raised there on a beautiful farm on the Canadian border. There’s a bit of Scandinavian egalitarianism in the people, and they will welcome you, if you take the time to get to know them.
Today, I want to show you two States that I’m calling demoralization States, Missouri and North Carolina. I was as dubious about Virginia a few weeks ago as I am about Missouri and North Carolina now. Virginia has since, in my estimation, become a likely Obama State. Missouri and North Carolina are conservative States, but the trends are pointing toward Obama. I remain unconvinced, but hopeful.

By my calculations, Obama leads in both States, and he enjoys an upward trend. That’s fascinating. McCain losing in North Carolina or Missouri would amount to a complete repudiation of the Republican ideals of more wars, more riches for the rich, privatizing social security, massive deficit spending, and eliminating the constitutional right to privacy.
When venturing into the realm of the unlikely, which North Carolina and Missouri are, one must be careful to not overstate the likelihood of an Obama victory. However, it is, at least, a possibility.
Let’s go out and make it happen.
George W. Bush won in North Carolina in 2000 and 2004 by over 12% each time. If Obama is able to win in North Carolina, it would be roughly the electoral equivalent of McCain winning in California, Illinois, or Connecticut.
Even the possibility of Barack Hussein Obama winning the popular vote in the Great State of North Carolina makes me quiver with glee.
Times change.
Sometimes for the better.
