McCain’s other surge doesn’t appear to exist, except in the minds of negative, paranoid moonbats and in the minds of wingnuts who rely on faith-based statistics and creation math.

Of course, the McCain comeback scenario is also very popular in the media which not only relies on ratings, but also loves John McCain with a passion equal to Sarah Palin’s love for Jesus…and speaking in tongues and faith-healing and wolf-shooting and witch-hunting African preachers…and on and on…

I’m as paranoid as anyone about this election being taken from Senator Obama by race-baiting and fear-mongering, but so far, there just isn’t any data that points to that happening.

The next thing I have to worry about is flat-out election fraud, and I don’t mean by ACORN.  I mean the kind that comes from the Supreme Court.

However, the numbers I’ve calculated for today show that Senator Obama has a lead of 5.46% to 6.61% nationally, which means, statistically, he has between 341 and 356 electoral votes.

Senator Obama’s lead in many of the so-called battleground States is nearly insurmountable. Senator McCain will have to win nearly all of them to have a chance of winning the election.

It’s possible, but unlikely.

The following graph shows the range of the Obama lead for the 12 days ending October 19.

After going through a maximum on October 9 and 10, Senator Obama went through a minimum on October 14.  Since then, he’s been in a slow and steady climb again.

Certainly, the race could remain close while the Republicans use every tactic and resource at their disposal to destroy Senator Obama on a personal level.

The scorched earth policy has been every effective for them in the past, at least in winning elections.  Of course, the long-term effect is that the winner of the election is unable to govern because every resource has been destroyed and every bridge has been burned.

But, that’s okay as long as your side wins, right?

Wrong.
